Trying Not to Say I Love You

Trying not to say I love you
While you occupy my thoughts
Driving me to blissful fancy
Even though I fear it is all for naught

Trying not to say I love you
Holding back all I want to give
My heart beats faster
Just to see you smile
But these insecurities leave my hopes dismissive

Trying not to say I love you
As this feeling grows more and more
My tongue is tied
From the surge of feelings inside
Growing all the more difficult to hide
Knowing I have so much more in store

Trying not to say I love you
As I feel it burning way down deep
Looking for every action and hint
Without violating my self-inflicted stint
Creative new ways to vent
Make clear my intent
I've never felt like taking such a worthwhile leap

Still trying not to say I love you
But I hope you know one day
The words I say to always be true
All I want is to be with you
somehow, someway...
