No Religion

No religion no talibans  
no persecution of the Jews,  
not subject to god-made Adams  
no honour killings in the news.  
No flogging of women as just dues  
for showing errant inch of skin,  
nor stoned to death for holding views  
against some religion's ruthless spin.  
 
No evangelist's fleecing fans  
to send him on luxury cruise,  
no religion-pushed abortion ban  
coz realpolitik does so choose.  
No heaven no hell a church's ruse  
no Coeur d'Lyons no Saladins  
crusading? A grifter's excuse,  
as is their original sin.  
 
But, no Saud's mosque, Mecca Islam  
no high passion of St Mathew,  
no monumental cathedrals  
no great paintings to be viewed,  
inspired by their greatest muse,  
no choristers making rafters ring  
high alleluias for folk on pews  
allaying fears, priests, instill within.
