Eyewitnesses

the gray remains
of yours, and mine, fear
they were still lying on the ground
when I arrived.

There were suspicious stains
on the rug I put in the wash.
The fish stayed
strangely silent,
when they saw me,
submerged.

there was a rooster
singing nearby
and neighbors
on the clotheslines
I took the still lifes
off the wall
who smiled sheepishly.

The roosters shut up
but the fish talk
It does not make
the slightest sense!
