Unknown Changes
Sometimes it is not as simple as leaving
Things behind in the rearview mirror as
I move forward, but that is what I have
To do; onward and upward to something
New around the corner with no grieving
Over someone I used to be. The topaz
Colored water called my name as half
Of me is terrified and the other is jumping
Headfirst into the waves of the unknown.
The waves of change that are at my feet.
Just take a deep breath and let it sink
Into my heart. This is what I have always
Wanted; an opportunity to be all alone
And start again where people in the street
Do not know me by name. I never rethink
Or doubt as airplanes leave the runways
On their way to their final destinations just
Like I should welcome every change with
Open arms. Welcome home. This is where
You belong. Even in the murky depths of
Everything chaotic I find my life blessed
With new beginnings. Just as a wordsmith
Creates a newly written chapter I swear
To always find mine both in life and love.
