Argument for Love

Please don’t write me off
as nothing but your history
nothing but a memory
Please don’t mourn our love
as dead and buried
in the past

Do you not feel it
As I feel it
See it:
Blazing yet
Desirous to set our world aflame?
Or does that spell your greatest fear?
That if these embers are not choked
They’ll burn our lives to cinders
Leaving only ashes
From whence nothing can rise?
Please don’t demonize this passion!
We are not hell bound
Did you not feel the heaven
In our together moments
As did I?
How can heavenly experiences
Destroy?
How can love so right
Be wrong?

I live not in pure black & white
But float in clouds of ever changing tones
From sunrise cotton-candy pinks
To Sun-gilded glow
To darkened days of rainy greys
And inky midnight blues
We do not always choose
The colors of our lives
Or whose soul most resonates
Along our journey
All I KNOW, floating through the changing hues
Is that you still love me
and I, as always, still love you.
