The Mighty

Looking down on the river            
watching the current flow by            
as though time had stopped            
she didn't know why        
finally          
listening to the silence            
like letting go of a breeze            
with the current running through them both            
one always knowing            
the other on her knees            
on the banks of whatever comes after            
knowing now what had always been true            
once she let it all go            
well then              
she was the river too
