Even if I tremble

Life has great power over us
If we can not learn to trust
The waves, the ever higher waves
It's then when we become like slaves

The boat gets thrown about by lust
The bright steel of our will will rust
Aversion, grasping, lead away
From what a gift is every day

From pieces of a fearful heart
I vow to make a brand new start
A greatful life assemble
Even if I tremble

Attention paid is payment full
No single breath is truly dull
If curious spirit sees its way
Curious and grateful every day

To judge but never to condemn
Brings fear of being judged to end
I am a work in progress still
I will be all my days until

Life comes to end, then I ascend
To what comes next, what it may be
I will have then spent every day
On this one quest that's all to me

A grateful life assemble
Even if I tremble

Author's Note
Gratitude is the antidote to fear. When we are truly grateful, we see that we will always have things to be grateful for, even if bad things happen. This does not take the fear away completely, but it makes it easier to bear and can give us an underlying sense of calm.
