Sleeping Beauty

Black day dawning
I’m yearning, longing
To count the sheep
And get some sleep

But merely too awake to go
Into a dreamland, so
I can realize my fate
I just can’t wait

Self-absorbed insomniac
Once you’re one, you can’t go back
It breaks your will in two
And drains you through and through

My bloodshot eyes won’t help my case
Dreams are gone without a trace
Simply just skin and bones
And my complexion, a ghostly white tone

They call me a hollow husk, and Mr. Zombie Man
Their pathetic humor I just don’t understand
If they were me, they’d pray for sheep
So they could finally get some sleep

Stuck on autopilot, just won’t shut down
My ceaseless complaining will make you frown
The comfort of a pillow is what I need
Not to eat, not to breed

Put me into a coma, so I can finally sleep
I’m in dreamland, I see the sheep
The sandman’s made his mark, and my eyes have been taken
Like sleeping beauty, but don’t let me awaken
