Jeremiad
I did not think to live to see such times,
So full of international disgrace,
With doomsday clocks brinking their midnight chimes
When leaders again fear to lose their face:
Whole nations foregone for feeble gains;
No co-operative spirits allowed
For distribution of requisite grains
When mankind is too busy being proud.
So gift wrap a weapon for the fool
To place beneath the decorated tree
For more "security" at his Yule
In the bloody land of the brave and the free,
Learning of nations and their final days
Exchanging money for munition craze!
So full of international disgrace,
With doomsday clocks brinking their midnight chimes
When leaders again fear to lose their face:
Whole nations foregone for feeble gains;
No co-operative spirits allowed
For distribution of requisite grains
When mankind is too busy being proud.
So gift wrap a weapon for the fool
To place beneath the decorated tree
For more "security" at his Yule
In the bloody land of the brave and the free,
Learning of nations and their final days
Exchanging money for munition craze!
