Discontent

Knots of pain
Ingrained
Within the hollowed
Hallowed wood
The trunk shrunk
Rings of time
Sublimely stood
Ill gotten years
Forgotten tears
Dead roots
Emerald glories
Long gone
As the swansong
Drifts off
Into the misty cobwebbed dawn
Whilst sisterly sister trees
Await the ravenous jaws
Of shivering blades
That roar with rage
Roots
Hold tight
Onto mother earth
From whence
Their sapling birth
First grew
They no longer grow
Just groan
All knotty, and gnarled
As winters bitter wind
Snarled
In discontent
