Laying in the dark

Laying in the dark

It's late in the dead of night, you are laying in your bed reading on your phone, then you get the strangest feeling like you are not alone

You put your phones light on, you scan it around the room, then you hear a crashing noise, like a falling broom

The sound was unexpected, it makes your heartbeat race, you feel the fear rising, is someone in your place

You switch the bedside lamp on, you're straining with your ears, the possibility of a intruder, has awakened child like fears

Fears of the Boogeyman, the monster who hides beneath your bed, all the late night horror films are now playing in your head

Now comes the big question, do you go outside your room to look, you know that's how they die in horror films, it's written in every murder book

When you were little your brave dad was always there, to chase away your nightmares, to protect you with his love and care

But now you live in a flat, you're grown up and all alone, it's only 3 am, far to early to try and reach him on the phone.

You tell yourself to get a grip girl, to go out and take a peep, if you don't you'll never rest, you'll never get to go to sleep

It's just because you're on your own, because your laying in the dark, it was only a silly noise but your fears it seemed to spark
