A Step Too Far
A step too far.
I wonder if a step too far is when
His look is so stern I will feel a twinge,
Although I'm seated, I can sense I'll bend
Without a murmur, for I know to whinge
Will only bring about catastrophe.
I wonder if the cane will really hurt?
It looks quite whippy and, I know, he'll mark
Me with his instrument and will be curt
Because I disobeyed and would not start
To find my naughty place across his knee
But that was then and this is now. I find
I do enjoy his discipline and star
In all his punishments. I will not mind
Whether or not he takes a step too far.
