Image for the poem Is this It?

Is this It?

Verse:

Hour after hour we work, rest and then replay

The rewind makes you ask, is this it

Am I just throwing my life away?

Makes me wonder what my tombstone would say

If I were to leave this second, with all my mistakes

Would I smile at the end or just complain

While giving everyone else headaches

And not make a good end to my campaign

Pre-chorus:

Now that would be a tragic conclusion

And build more misery to the confusion

So I'll exceed every expectation

and inspire an entire generation

Chorus:

Is this it? The nihilist asked

while exposing his dreadful past

I answered, of course not my friend

Life has riches that will surely last

Is this it? Said the man in pain

It's a harsh life, one I can't maintain

There's more to you than hell can take

So believe there's nothing you can't undertake

Verse 2:

Is this it? I wonder at times as well

Then I remember that life is what you make it

And not built on some wishing well

It's up to you, can't you tell?
