The Road
“The Road”
I see aural fields burn before me,
And ancient roads traveled by no man.
Ill waters murmur voices of the drowned,
For wretched is the passage through Genesis
To what tears we do not recall
Beyond dark seas that roar silently
Without voices in their starlit waves
Ere we were Thought in our father’s eyes.
?meard a saw I erofeb I saw tahW
emit siht ni yhw dna ,dlrow siht ni yhW
?tpek meard eht sI
Which road then leads to the heavens?
I beware the road, for it does not lead to you.
Past the fires of these high grasses,
Is there some distant shore?
A sea unknown by one such as I
Who lay sleeping on still waters long ago,
Now unrecalled as you took my hand
When I woke from dreams of thine?
Now as the fields lay burning,
I see only graves…graves…graves…
And one that yawns to take me.
?maerd a saw I erofeb I saw tahW
What do you see from your grave?
I do not know which road is mine.
And you are not here to tell me.
So, I will watch the burning fields
Until the road finds the traveler
Who swore to meet me there.
