Healing Touch

Like a river, the years flowed by
until one morning it was fall again and the
cool breezes reminded her of an injured youth.

Her mother’s lover proved untrustworthy,
satisfying his desires with a young daughter.
The remaining scar still sought acceptance.

On a cool night she brought
her thirst to where warm waters
still flow. She knelt and let her lips
touch another man who had desired her
from his youth, unburdened by the guilt for
other women he has loved. There had been many.

He bent down to place a single tender kiss
over the place where she was violated as a child and
she felt a cleansing wave breeze across her center.

Later, she joined the chorus of women who
loved this guiltless man from her childhood.

Author's Note
One of my lovers told me of a man who healed her and allowed her to share intimacy once more. I remember being appreciative of that man I never met.
