Run All Night
…I ran, and ran until I couldn’t run any more
Until I got to foothills that lead to a mountain pass
From there I could see the city had been bombarded
And some areas had been taken out by a blast
At dusk I saw a drone flying high above me
Against the darkening sky and a crescent moon
Suddenly I heard noises and hid by some brushes
But within minutes I was surrounded by a platoon
I was captured but upon seeing my wounds they halted
One of the markings on my neck meant it was some rank
They re-bandaged me and brought to one of their officers
When an older gentleman in uniform called me Frank
“We thought you’d been killed”, the old man told me
“Aren’t you going to update us?”, he added sounding mad
“I have no memory or any recollection up until this morning”
And that for some reason seem to make him glad
“They’ve only reported the Premier missing” he added
“And you know exactly where he is” handing me a gun
Within the hour I was being driven back to the city
For a mission I was to finish before the next rising sun
I was dropped off on the outskirts of the town
Again, I ran hiding between city blocks destroyed by fire
Military patrols and tanks were now everywhere
With each passing minute my situation got more dire
It was close to midnight when I saw the familiar streets
Whatever training I had in the past life was coming back
And yet I still didn’t know who I was or when or how or why
I was stuck in this place that had been under attack
After several hours I arrived at the abandoned asylum
Back to the place I was born just earlier in the day
Still with no memory or recollection of what I was
With a mission of trying to keep a strange enemy at bay...
