Rush
The cargo trains are always so loud
In my small Iowa town
Rusted and tagged, just like those spikes
Things found walking along the tracks
Hand in hand
Balancing on metal
It was hot
The Summer humidity
So comfortable with that
Your own body an image
You always wore those shorts
That green bra too, when it was night
I wore sweat pants
An 'I Love Lucy' T-shirt
It was so big on me and held holes from wear
I wore it every night
It was my cousins
When the train came in, remember your face?
Let's play a game
Let's play a game
Reluctance tugged on me
But I had to let loose
Let it go and scream!
Just scream at that train
Because it betrayed me
The loud rush of it all
How could I be betrayed
We talked about hurt
Pain and our past
You were a different person during the day
At night you were my soul mate though
We walked along the tracks
The train made us different
Made us yell
Bound us together
Those rusty spikes
Engraving us in the past
In my small Iowa town
Rusted and tagged, just like those spikes
Things found walking along the tracks
Hand in hand
Balancing on metal
It was hot
The Summer humidity
So comfortable with that
Your own body an image
