Cherish All - A poem for my daughter
Cherish all that makes you unique
even the messy parts.
There are no discounts for the
beauty you carry. Give none,
but when you find a man willing to
exchange his most valued treasures
for you, give all of yourself without reservation.
Remember your beginnings and
your place in the world.
Carry yourself with the knowledge that
there will be endings to even what is most
beautiful in life.

This was edited from a recent note I sent to my daughter reminding her not to sell herself short. She gave me a hug after reading the note and I thought it was appropriate to share since she inspired my winning entry in a recent visual competition, New Beginnings. We should never sell ourselves short, whoever we are. Reminds me of that saying, 'Never knowingly undersold'.

Good poignant maternal advice, no wonder she hugged you. The picture of your daughter looks out of a turn-of-the century boudoir painting done at a time when long hair was fashionable (though sometimes worn in top knots).
