Crime novels

That is all I read....for enjoyment
For self-deep-search
Into the abyss of my messed-up being.
I really do not care for mind-boggling twists
And the oftentimes convoluted  élucubrations
Of the oh so knowledgeable  literature critics
Who will analyze texts to death.
I like to read for pleasure, not pain....
Not even Crime and Punishment
And yet, sometimes I pick up a crime novel
And glance at the comments of praise on the back cover.
Sometimes. But rarely. For they are, of course, selling points.
They can one-sided of course
And a disappointment when the reality falls short
Of the Great Expectations
As is the case with the crime novel I am attempting to finish at the moment.
I will not give the name of the author.
You know who he (or she) is
You have come across him or her at one time or another
