Author's Note
When a total eclipse occurs, one’s surroundings become dark. In those cases, you know that the light still exists, but it’s being masked by a shadow. In my lyrics, I explain that believing in something, like love, is like witnessing an eclipse. I think belief involves placing certainty onto something that is uncertain—ex: believing that a relationship will work out, when really, you don’t know if it will. You can’t control what will happen in the future, yet you can choose to believe a positive one. In the midst life’s eclipses, when the darkness is all you see, placing belief on the fact that the light is still there, is a powerful thing. Beliefs won’t give you all the right answers, but they affirm what you value in life, and knowing what you value is necessary to move on and live.
