Goodnight
“Goodnight”
Goodnight. Goodnight.
Dreamland, awake and slay me—
Let me bleed in the moonlight.
I’m lonesome, dying to be free.
I watched you fall in love
With a faceless form.
To think, I thought it was me
Who would always keep you warm.
There is sorrow when you do not arrive,
I feel the thunder in my heart.
And it hurts with every beating
When I wake and I am still alive.
You won’t see I bought you a bouquet,
You never kissed the tears from my face
When I waited by the doorway,
And you never came that day.
I asked you to speak to me,
You told me I was ill.
I saw you in the moonlight
Upon the crownless, starry hill.
I climbed to reach you with a promise,
A promise that I could keep.
But in the end, it was only vision
When I was happy in my sleep.
Goodnight, goodnight,
Dreamland, awake and slay me—
Let me bleed in the moonlight
I’m lonesome, dying to be free.
