The Old Ways

Imagine if people never looked for something more. All the places that would have never been discovered. All the events that would have never happened. Standing still just waiting for death. And in modern times we watch so many of the old ways being lost. Everything is just part of this big heartless machine that tries to grind the life out of people, fulfilling these roles that are designed to just keep a machine that has no heart or passion running. I love seeing ancient sites and thinking about what they mean, how they got there, and the incredible passion it took to build them. Setting sail on the seas not knowing what is out there and discovering new worlds. My compass has always been strange, it leads me off the beaten path and that's where I belong. And I remember going to places where many things are still done the old way and I loved it. When the milk tastes so much better and they tell you it was just taken from the cow out back this morning. Where the animals roam free and are not caged in small stalls and tortured. Often I dream of other times in history and I am fascinated by it. And I weep for what is being lost every day as part of the evolution of this machine. But also I hold on tight to the possibilities and I want to see everywhere because there is still so much wonder in the world. So much life and passion. I never want to let that go ever.
