shovel-bound
for Hades
to greet
certain doom…

the scratching
and rasping
won’t cease
at my throat…

a traveling farmer
spots my distress
changing directions
to stop and assist

please
a drink..
if you have
to spare…

desert
of dirt..
unable
to bear…

tossing me down
a jug full of water
he lends me his hand
to pull me from slaughter

refusing
the offer…
no saviors
here…

I’m born
to die…
it’s Hell
up there…

thirst quenched
strength returned
I excavate deeper
than ever before

muscles weakened
and hands bloodied…
the path to freedom
begins to get muddy…

a wandering cleric
sees my great agony
and hands me down
an elixir of vitality

imbibed it quickly
to pleasure untold
feeling of emptiness
simply unknown

eying the Earth
and gazing the sky
understanding now
I want to survive

trapped within
a pit of despair
I’m bound to finish
this forced march to Hell

as Pluto’s gate
unveils through
Earth…

an awoken
Cerberus
snarls…

Hellish screams
tear from
the pit…

with
no hope
of tomorrow…
