Time for Healing
Why do we cover up our true selves?
Hiding behind smiles
When we’re crying inside.
Saying we’re okay
When we’re beside ourselves with sadness.
Putting Band-Aids over weeping wounds.
Deciding we’d rather die,
Leaving the earth too soon.
Believing that no one cares.
Totally unaware
That we’re not alone.
That better days are coming.
We can begin to heal,
But we must peel back the masks.
Break down the walls.
Stop cowering and stand tall.
Let love penetrate;
Dissolving all the anger and hate.
We can’t continue to
Keep our hearts closed
Because hurt not exposed,
Is hurt that grows.
Let love penetrate;
Dissolving all the anger and hate.
We can’t continue to
Keep our hearts closed
Because hurt not exposed,
Is hurt that grows.
