Elysian Nights
I wish a place for all of us
Washed by the beams of a full moon
Upon a strand of bright nimbus
With the musical spheres in tune;
Where with angel sight I might see
The warped reaches of deepest space,
Using an Olympic clarity
Only immortals could embrace,
And I would wish wings for such skies
To match such awesome sight, with flight,
From lunar sundown to sunrise
And over everything else at night...
Where I'd always be wide awake,
Anticipating daybreak!
Washed by the beams of a full moon
Upon a strand of bright nimbus
With the musical spheres in tune;
Where with angel sight I might see
The warped reaches of deepest space,
Using an Olympic clarity
Only immortals could embrace,
And I would wish wings for such skies
To match such awesome sight, with flight,
From lunar sundown to sunrise
And over everything else at night...
Where I'd always be wide awake,
Anticipating daybreak!
