Ephemeris
The world has become the way it is
Because long before the Mesozoic...
Mother nature, with her boil and fizz,
Was a cosmic sovereign rather stoic.
But then in the vastidity of time
She made love the realm of Goddess Venus,
That dominatrix of the lusty clime
In every procreative genus;
The public domain of pleasure and pain
And now the hotbed of the midnight mind
Where the nonce shadows of the threshold brain
Are evermore seeking those thoughts in kind,
Lurking, in the equatorium heart,
Pierced anon by Cupid's heavenly dart!

I'm delighted you like It! I think of the midnight mind, or poetic sight, as a kind of neurological state where OCD overlaps with ADHD, and perhaps other things I have as yet been unable to isolate and label. Whatever it is, it's that mentation state from which all my best poems have sprung.
Or maybe I should just call it an intellectual boner?
Either way it's a good thing.

Brilliant work! I like how here you have the goddess Venus as being not just about love and light, but also of pain and darker things as well... but all in this twisted kind of harmony that just plain works and makes sense. Love is rarely about logic, and rarely without its' pains, after all. And yet, without it, the universe would be truly screwed! Totally had to press the like button.
