Image for the poem Lines in the Stories

Lines in the Stories

Are we mere lines in the stories
of selfish gods who happily watch
us sacrifice temporal flesh
to pleasures found between
our birthing cries
     and dying breaths?

When all imaginations cease, who will
remember these few lines we shared?
Will they be labeled by the gods as sacred
      or sinful?

Let us live our lines fully in
this one and precious life
     as our pages burn.
