Lyrids
I looked for them in predawn skies
And their phosphorescent trails;
Always a treat for midnight eyes
Like lightning on celestial rails,
Sending telegrams from star to star
About the latest angel host
That heaven sent out way too far
For an elusive alien ghost
Trapped in a dream that got too weird
Due to the local cosmic rays
Which gravitational lensing steered
Past a dozen odd milky ways
Which tasted just like meteors
Those angels roasted up for smores!
And their phosphorescent trails;
Always a treat for midnight eyes
Like lightning on celestial rails,
Sending telegrams from star to star
About the latest angel host
That heaven sent out way too far
For an elusive alien ghost
Trapped in a dream that got too weird
Due to the local cosmic rays
Which gravitational lensing steered
Past a dozen odd milky ways
Which tasted just like meteors
Those angels roasted up for smores!
