An Old Rival Returns
The sadness has returned
settled, nestled
In my chest where a hole was
burnt, rotted
Just its size, but maybe more
surging, heavy
It remembers its old home
numbing, fogging
The tendrils surround my core
swelling, bleeding
Shrapnel of emotional pain
apathy, anxiety
And down, down I've fallen
settled, nestled
In my chest where a hole was
burnt, rotted
Just its size, but maybe more
surging, heavy
It remembers its old home
numbing, fogging
The tendrils surround my core
swelling, bleeding
Shrapnel of emotional pain
apathy, anxiety
And down, down I've fallen
