Welkin Fall
I watched the stars rise in the east
To chaperone my midnight thoughts
Which have of late been sore increased
To well nigh meteoric spots...
Useless in the tangible now,
Which to scintilla, is no friend...
And uninspired anyhow,
About where photons meet their end
In the back of a sleepless eye
Scanning for one more shooting star
Descending through a moonless sky;
Footnotes...from a cosmic memoir
Of vaporizing lumps of stone,
Fading, like hope left on its own.
To chaperone my midnight thoughts
Which have of late been sore increased
To well nigh meteoric spots...
Useless in the tangible now,
Which to scintilla, is no friend...
And uninspired anyhow,
About where photons meet their end
In the back of a sleepless eye
Scanning for one more shooting star
Descending through a moonless sky;
Footnotes...from a cosmic memoir
Of vaporizing lumps of stone,
Fading, like hope left on its own.
