and when the words fell out
about negotiations,
about how your body
slipped inside my body, calico,
left it broken and reduced
and tired of loving,
when the reasons we did it
were so clearly of extreme divide,
when the echoes of my young years
screamed from the inside out
into your eardrum
as palatable acceptance,
when I confessed
that adoring is enough,
it's the crux for me,
the reason to exist,
I could be convinced into anything
if only they'll adore me after
well, then it became important
to be fragile only with those
who know how not to break a spider's web
spun between their thumb and their hand.
