Exploding Relish and other Glorious Displays of Physics
it’s a sensory treat,
the destruction of something
that is a pain in the ass to clean up,
something quite decadent
in the chaos of physics in motion
before our jaded, glassy eyes;
a moment where our hearts
are quickened by deep, fast beats -
excited by the horror, the inevitability
of something we can’t take back
the relish made its way from the shelf,
a serendipitous event
on an otherwise
boring Wednesday afternoon,
slamming into the floor
with such force
its contents exploded outward,
on impact of moveable
against the unmoveable
perhaps too big a deal to make
for an event so small,
but we cultivate gratitude
and it starts with appreciating
how far that shit chucked -
I mean all the way under the door?
how lavish a thing to witness
the destruction of something
that is a pain in the ass to clean up,
something quite decadent
in the chaos of physics in motion
before our jaded, glassy eyes;
a moment where our hearts
are quickened by deep, fast beats -
excited by the horror, the inevitability

This is just glorious.
Only you could wrap that moment in your construction of words and make it poetry. 😁

Dear L,
I adore how you’ve taken this typically irritating situation and elevated it to a place of thanks and giving. I can picture the mess it made and how even when you think you got it all cleaned up you turn around and there’s a chunk hiding in plain sight. Fantastic write. H🌷

This can be framed as a look into a world view. the The first stanza reminded me of many an experiment in science class. The second stanza provides a rich metaphor. The last stanza dwells deeper in to a metaphor but turns it on it's head to illuminate positivity.

Aside from the "oh crap" moment, I'm mesmerized at how you captured this into a poetic weaving of both amusement and wonder. It just goes to show that even in those tiny seconds a great poet will seize the inspiration from the universe and share it with the world.
Well done.
Well done.

You sound like a true scientist! Actually, a scientist with a flair for observation and documentation. Admiring the laws of nature.
Enjoyed the poem.

The mundane and irritating becomes the profound and glorious under your pen, LGh! It is like much glorious ado about an incidental whim; yet, you clothe it in garments of silk and place it upon a pedestal for the world to tip his sun-blocking hat in pausing -- not passing. Its profundity is definitely "...something [you] can’t take back"!
BTW, this is my first direct comment on any of your poems. And what pleasure!
Sincerely

All of the above and more or less. I love the deftness with which you garnish the explosive moment. A treat. Lovely eyes.
