Where to begin
When
The mascarade
Ends,
What's the use
Of pretending?
It gives
The appearance
Of everything's
Sending
That message
Of perfection all day.
When the lights
Come on
And the bar
Shuts down
And the ring
On the finger spins round,
What was the point
Of starting
This
Fling
When the darkness
Was all on the ground?

feels like a dance - a whirl of movement leading to a sudden realisation

I was recently in a conversation with someone, 45 years after a devastating affair. They wished they had never been a part of it. But, I knew them when it was happening, and it seemed at the time to be the most glorious experience ever.
Time.....over time, we find the value of these things fades often in light of day, sleepless nights, and, ironically, breaking the heart of the person who actually loved them.
Life is full of strange lessons.
