Wanderess

some think freedom is a blessing
an attribute worth possessing
until they meet a spirit truly free
living her life as a spree
weak men calling her banshee
but for me
I heard her siren's song
holding her flame to long
my heart was not that strong
her wildness was frightening
a mercurial lightening
challenging, naive and sensual
her fire was elemental
a wanderess
in a long flowing dress
following the whispered breath of fate
with destiny she'd made a date
and I was much too late
yet I found a gift
my life no longer adrift
and a spirit truly free
not caring what would be
I too have a date with destiny
and a future I desire breathlessly
