Maple Tree
Maple tree
Piling up
The remnants
Of who she was
Scattered all around
Some in mounds
Some flew higher
Away from hands
Above their heads
Who tear the edges
Of her past beauties
Swaying branches
Violently
In October showers
Cannot stop
The kids from jumping
Into her mess below
Crying as November sneaks
Knowing all her leaves
Will be a memory
Forcing her to
Embrace the chill
And grow
Until new buds
Emerge in spring.
