This Night

I will imagine…
 
I’ve settled in after a long flight
Enjoyed a hot shower
Sipping a drink and reading
When
There’s knock on my door
I dare not hope
Yet still my heart leaps as I reach to open
Then my heart stops
I stand frozen, a single tear escapes
As I draw you in.
You encircle me in strong embrace
To calm my shaking,
Answering my query, “is this real? Am I dreaming?”
With the words,
“I’m here. I DO love you.  That never changed.”
…and that’s just the beginning…
 
Yes, tonight (again)
I dream of realizing
All I miss of you.
