Unrequited

She’s amazing, she’s my very best mate,
But there’s one thing I’ve got to get off my plate.
Whenever she’s breaking up with her fella I’m the only one she phones,
So as shit luck would have it, I’m firmly in the friend zone.
We sit for hours chatting and playing cards,
Then she talks about her fella and it truly hurts my heart.
I sit there and listen to all of her issues,
I’m the shoulder to cry on, I hand her the tissues.
Fair enough I’ve never had the balls to say,
The way I feel about her is more than a friendly way.
The hardest thing that I’ve always tried,
Is not to slag off her fella even though I’m fuming inside.
Does he not know what’s in front of his face?
She lights up the world, makes it a better place.
But does she honestly not see that although I’m trying not to diss,
I’d give anything to be him for a second for one single kiss.
There’s a chemistry between us, of that I’m perfectly sure,
But this unrequited love is leaving my heart sore.
I sometimes think “Distance yourself, you’re better off alone”,
But I can’t ignore her when her name appears on my phone.
So please tell me what I’m supposed to do,
With these loving feelings that I feel all the way through?
