“Take this Star”

Take this star, and hold it in your hand.
This is goodbye, I understand.
They say that I have been a fool,
But is it kinder to be cruel?

Between your teeth, my heart is dumb
Speechless in the ache of waiting
For all my hope is creating:
The things that will never come.

When I’m alone, above the starless ground
You are all my thoughts surround.
In the night there is an emptiness
When I feel the shade of your caress.
That ghost sings light upon my memories
A beacon, crossing dreamless seas.
And though I hear the haunted refrain,
Only shadows of those days remain.

I don’t want to forget tomorrow,
When today is yesterday’s sorrow.
I fill my blood with what will happen then,
And the way we always should have been.
I thought once upon a time that the sky is blue
But there is no color in a world without you.
Outside the sun is dancing to a song I do not hear.
I wish I could make the sky disappear,
As I see you in every empty space.
O! for one last embrace!
But will you follow me to the other shore
Will I die to escape these dreams—only to dream them more?
