Vampires
We hear the gunfire off in the distance
We find ourself picking up pace in that direction
No more than filth covered skeletons trekking through the jungle
War harden with dead men eyes looking for the next skirmish
We know our positions and the way that we each move
The natural predators here give us a wide girth
For they have all agreed this is man's war
They have agreed to come together as one and clean up the battlefields
But for now and from afar they watch as we kill
They don't understand it, because we are defying the laws of nature
We are killing for no reason, not food or any form of survival
But for dominance and money, or dominance of money
Things that nature doesn't understand or planned
As we cleared the brush we came upon a scene
There were bodies upon bodies and all in between
More than half died with their eyes opened wide
Shit you could see the pain and suffering, and yes there was fright
The flies had already dined and left maggots everywhere
Crawling in and out of orifices, and all through their hair
There was a soldier cut in half with something moving under his shirt
I placed two rounds into the squirming to stop the post mortem hurt
While picking our way through this field of bodies and entrails
We had walked through at least two football fields of bodies and guts
We were all struck at once, where was the blood
But then the shooting returned in the distance and the answer became clear
All blood was given to those that sent us over here
As we move out we forget about those that send but never went
We can only hope that all monies earned, they choke on every cent
We find ourself picking up pace in that direction
No more than filth covered skeletons trekking through the jungle
War harden with dead men eyes looking for the next skirmish
We know our positions and the way that we each move
The natural predators here give us a wide girth
For they have all agreed this is man's war
They have agreed to come together as one and clean up the battlefields
