Tell Me It's Snowing
“Tell Me It’s Snowing”
You could say there’s snow when there is none.
And I’d believe you, though I see the desert sun.
If the lies faded away, nothing would be familiar,
Like your skin, which brings me so much pleasure:
So please…
Say to me that there’s snow when all is dry
And I’ll see the flakes falling from the sky.
I cannot make you real
Anymore than I can make you feel
For me.
But here when the lights are out
There are things to ignore
That we need to talk about…
But I don’t care about them anymore
Because my heart never started beating
Before I saw your eyes gleaming
In the weariness surrounding our embrace.
And for your every sin, I’ll sing your praise.
It was never a feeling for you to endure.
It’s nothing another lie cannot cure.
Do you want to know that I can lie, too?
I just choose to tell you what I choose is true.
I wish I could stop time so you would never leave
And though you lie to me, I still believe
My heart never beat before that first meeting.
Yes, my heart never started beating
Until you told me you had no empathy
That you had no feeling for me.
And I could not see the reason why
Love never came out of the way you lie
That the world stood still is no mystery,
For or world was but a forgery
Of something I wanted to know
And you told me there was snow.
So please…
Tell me it is snowing when the trees are bare
And I will see green and white in the summer air.
So please…
Tell me it is snowing, and I’ll lie to my feeling
And tell myself that I am freezing.
