Nothing

Let me write a poem today,
But what do I write about,
Gender issues that haunt me
Day and night? Prince Charming
Who I dream of with open eyes?

Do I write about Shakespeare’s misogyny?
Or describe Zami’s anguish and the craving for love?

I want to write day in day out.
But what do I write?
They tell me to pen my thoughts.
Either there are too many of them,
Or I am point blank.

Should I speak of My love for women?
Or write about the calculating men?

Let me write again tonight.
I won’t choose a topic for it.
I will write random things.
Who says we need to write
About particular feelings.

I will write on nothing.
You cannot stop me from anything.
