Questioning myself

I question my purpose
My life i seem to lead
I try to vanquish the darkness
And try to plant a seed

But when you don't believe
Or understand who you are
Trying to be a better man
But not knowing where to start

So I write words and feelings
Upon this simple page
To let my thoughts out
I open the cage

Trapped in my own head
Lost in an endless maze
Trying to go to sleep
As I hope and I pray

That I can find my own destiny
That I can begin
My journey toward the path
Of needing a friend

But afraid to hurt others
Afraid to take a chance
Stuck in an endless cycle
I'm a man lost in trance

I'm bound by my hands
And tied to a tree
I try to escape
But nowhere to flee

Sick and tired of all
Alone in this place
Wish I had a future
But I'm alone in this race

I want to be happy
I want to feel secure
But I break everything I touch
I got nowhere to turn

The shadow keeps me awake
As I struggle to breathe
Hoping for a light
As my time it recedes
