A Spark

I saw whitecaps
And thunder over the hill
Rain pelts worn rock
Seeping below

Sitting here
Scribbling little notes
Like soldiers after the battle
Nervous and in ruin

Nothing is wrong
But my frown won’t crown
Keeping my head turning inside out

Maybe one day
I’ll see the sun come out
But not now, so I shouldn’t doubt

Stars go small
They glow in the dark
A crescent blue moon appears
Leading them along

Embers somber
And daylight surfaces
A flicker, a spark I once knew
Worn on every scar

Nothing is wrong
But my frown won’t crown
Keeping my head turning inside out

Maybe one day
I’ll see the sun come out
But not now, so I shouldn’t doubt
