Jesika

For every Laugh
there was a Tear that never shed.
So many words were left unsaid,
Oh Jesika.

Within my hand
I held that s i n g l e final text,
As all the world around me,
BURNED from "civilized" unrest,
Jesika.

I was watching the world burn,
Jesika.
I was watching the world Burn,
Jesika.
I sat and watched while the World BURNED!
Jesika.

Our Adventures turned to
Passionate Excess,
Gave so much there's Nothing left,
Oh Jesika.

Within my hea rt,
Within my head,
It fell Apa rt
There's Nothing Left,
There's Nothing left,
there's nothing left.

Jesika.
How quick it Came
How quick it Went,
Was it a Game
Or was it Meant
To Seem that w a y
Was it pretend?
Jesika?

You went aw a y
I never left,
And e very day
Is such a mess,
Such a me s s ,
Without you.
J es ik a.

I was watching the world Burn.
Jesika.
I was Watching the World BURn,
J esika!
I Sat and Watched While the WORLD BURNED!

Author's Note
A song about someone (Jesika was not her real name) whom I failed. I was angry, and wrongly directed it at her. She left and and I accept that. This happened right as the pandemic was hitting the country hard, then the murder of George Floyd ignited the riots. Reaching out was futile. Watching YouTube as the rioters cleansed/destroyed what needed cleansing/destruction. Understanding the strange correlation of world events, and my destruction of something beautiful.
[All the lyrics are original , although I did write them to an instrumental song by electronic artist SMURPHY
Album: RIP SMURPHY FOREVER (2021)
Track title: Jesika (hence the name in my lyrics), which is something I had never done before. When I heard it I recollected the events of 2020 and wrote this.]
