Anti-Love

From emotional cuts
My heart bleeds
There's nobody to give it
What it really needs
 
The damage is too great
It will never heal
All it ever needed
Was something real
 
I needed love, patience
And understanding
Were these requests
Really that demanding
 
They must have been
For what I've gone through
The moments I've felt love
There were very few
 
Maybe I'm meant
To be on my own
To live this life
Isolated and alone
 
Maybe this is how
It's meant to be
To be spared heartache
And misery
 
Why be in love
If it ends in pain
Everything lost
Only grief remains
 
It breaks your spirit
And your world is shattered
Leaving you feeling
Like you never mattered
 
Then you punish others
Because of your fears
Although it's not your intention
You drive them to tears
 
To live without love
Is to reject joy and bliss
To forbid an intimate touch
Or a passionate kiss
 
But these are risks
I can no longer take
I have to reject them
It's for my heart’s sake
 
For love is a blessing
But it's a curse as well
It can raise you to Heaven
Or drag you to hell
 
But for those of you
Who have found true love
Hold on to it tight
And thank The Lord above
 
True love is rare
So, cherish your loved one
But for someone like me
It's over, I'm done
