Bed of Glass

To rest upon
A bed of glass

I’d scarcely lay my cheek
While blades of shard and thorn
Razor sharp and caustic
Precise in their motive

Tear my flesh
And twist my bone

Entangled
With a restless spirit

Wandering
Craving
Begging

To possess
That which evades me
