A Day to Remember

This morning I met the woman of my dreams
I told her she was the one and she smiled playfully
She had shiny black hair; red lips; and eyes that gleamed
I skipped work so I can stay with her and grab a coffee

We talked and talked and she made me weak at the knees
Climbing the sky we didn’t notice the sun shining brightly
We left for lunch she held my hand; her face began to beam
We made a plan and in that plan I asked her to live with me

She packed her bags and my heart was singing with glee
We stayed in bed that afternoon; watched the swaying trees
I said I love her she says I love you more I said prove it to me
So we decided to get married and make this last for eternity

That evening we married the sky was red how could this be?
The smiling eyes bring tears to mine none as beautiful as she
The sun sank behind the hills; happiness vanished momentarily
The woman of my dreams looked down and held my hand loosely

That night I asked whats wrong; she cried and said it was nothing
My heart was pumping; hair was standing; someone clipped my wings
Breath was heavy; mind going crazy; this is the end of my spring
She put her hand on my chest; shiny cold metal; left a blunt sting

This morning I met the woman of my dreams
That night she ran away and left me to bleed
