when we're alone
and watching each breath
entering...leaving
our lives before death

fluttering, muttering
thoughts flying by
we sit and wonder
who's asking why?

behind the questions
feeling the awe
of consciousness shining
there's something much more

than ego's pretensions
or fires in the heart
something propels us
now as we start

vibrating slowly
feeling the buzz
with heartbeats' intrusions
in sync now because

far away yearnings
have all disappeared
what once seemed so strange
no longer is weird
