Image for the poem Megitsune

Megitsune

hidden behind a lotus blossom
her eyes glare, with mischief
a vixen in a silver fur coat
as her tail flows behind...

Megitsune, what kind of tricks
are inside your silken bag?
what surprise do you have in store
                                  for mankind?

sitting unnoticed to the stork
as he balances on one leg in the river
you shiver as summerland breezes
blow through the bamboo trees

Megitsune, where have you been?
like a harlequin dancing in the valley
you're a devil plotting...

Megitsune,
what trickery will befall humans,
                        when you're seen
