the sea of forgetfulness

 
my mind wanders and I drift
onto the sea of forgetfulness
I keep all my dreams close less they sail away into the dark
and I don't see you anymore
 
I hope when this life is over I remember your name
sincerity in the eyes of another
has me thinking I will know you again
 
a companion in this life
who one day appeared as if from nowhere
a chance encounter?
perhaps ,if I believed in those
 
our meeting a one in a million
on all the stars we align on this one
children of the cosmos soul joining
 
I wish to continue on basking in your shadow
but I don't know the fates are willing
so I enjoy the stolen moments with you
 
time has smiled upon our meeting here tonight
I cherish the days with you and the nights
